This is a tailormade programme at a level to suit young adults 16 years + looking for an Adventure Expedition. They may have been on a previous voyage of ours or they may be new to adventure expeditions aboard Elwing. Voyagees will, during the voyage complete their Dayskipper Certificate – NZQA 6914 or 6915.
This Adventure Expedition is at a more demanding level than our trips for 11-13 year olds and 13-15 year olds. The voyage will incorporate coastal exploration and discovery on the eastern coast of Stewart Island. Weather permitting the voyagees will travel to and explore Port Adventure, Lords River and Port Pegasus at the southern tip of Stewart Island. There are mountains to climb, rugged scenery to enjoy and somewhere to be that Jo Blogg seldom gets the opportunity to go to.
Voyagees do not need previous experience to participate in this expedition, they just need to have a yearning for adventure and be prepared to really get into this adventure expedition to the south of Stewart Island. There are only EIGHT BERTHS available for this voyage so you will need to act promptly to ensure there is a berth available for you.
Have you ever imagined living on a large yacht? This is your opportunity. Travel from bay to bay, exploring rivers, hideaway coves. Experience remote reefs and sandy shores. Paddle kayaks up little creeks through the bush. Climb a mountain that can give you a panoramic view all the way from the southern tip to the northern tip of Stewart Island. As well as true adventure this expedition is to enhance our appreciation of the environment, how to look after it and enjoy it to its full. You and the other students on board, with the aid of the skipper and his crew will raise and lower sails, sail to a new anchorage each night, at the end of the day will sit around, fill in your log to recapture the adventures of the day.
This tailor-made programme will be an amazing experience for you in an amazing and unique part of New Zealand.
